Coronation Street will hint at a possible wedding storyline for Chesney Brown and Gemma Winter in the New Year.
The couple are currently pretending to be planning a wedding ceremony as part of Tyrone Dobbs’ attempts to cover up his Christmas Day surprise for Chesney’s sister Fiz Stape.
Tyrone intends to spring a surprise wedding on Fiz on December 25. When his big secret was nearly rumbled by Fiz this week, Gemma stepped in and claimed that her and Chesney are the ones tying the knot soon.
In scenes airing early next year, Gemma confides in her mum Bernie about how she’d like to get married for real.

Bernie encourages Gemma to take charge and start organising the wedding herself.
Bernie predicts that Chesney will be thrilled if Gemma seizes control of the planning.
However, later in the week, Chesney upsets Gemma by declaring that he wouldn’t waste money on a wedding even if they could afford it.
Chesney thinks he’s taking a sensible stance, but some home truths from Dev Alahan give him pause for thought.

Changing his mind, Chesney returns home with an empty chilli sauce tub.
Chesney tells Gemma that they can turn it into a piggy bank and save up for the wedding.
Will the happy couple tie the knot before 2023 is out?
It’s a busy time for wedding stories on the cobbles, with Jennie McAlpine – who plays Fiz – recently warning that Tyrone’s big plans aren’t such a good idea.

Jennie told Digital Spy and other media: “All Fiz wants is the marriage, not the wedding. I don’t know if that makes Tyrone go, ‘I’ll just surprise her and take the stress out of it for her’.
“I know there’s a programme called Don’t Tell The Bride, but that’s a terrible idea. Even when Fiz says, ‘It’s all about the marriage’, she still wants to choose her own dress, surely, and have a little bit of input?”
