I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Sue Cleaver was forced to rush her last Coronation Street scenes as Eileen Grimshaw before flying out to Australia.
Set to enter the home of creepy crawlies for our entertainment this weekend, Cleaver spoke to The Mirror and other press about prioritising her workload ahead of her jungle stay.
“I’ve been trying to get the scenes filmed that they needed filming at work before I came out here. So my priority has been getting my proper work done before I headed out,” she noted.

The soap actress (who’s played Eileen Grimshaw for 22 years now) also went on to reveal what advice fellow Corrie/I’m a Celeb alums Simon Gregson and Jennie McAlpine shared with her this year.
“I think they were quite surprised when they heard that I was going to do it. But yeah, I know. I’ve got their support behind me, which is a lovely thing. So yeah, I’m just raring to go now,” Cleaver explained.
“They haven’t told me to watch out for anything. They’ve just said that you just go and enjoy it and have a great adventure. Obviously Simon was in the castle, so that was a very different environment. They both just said go in and enjoy it.”

Just like Class of ’22 contestant Chris Moyles, Cleaver had been asked by ITV to join I’m a Celeb a number of times.
“I’ve always said no, not me. No, I’d never do this,” she said.
“I think with the pandemic, and we all had a lot of time on our hands, it sort of changed a lot of stuff for me and then I was 59 in September, and I just thought you know what, I really want to get out of my comfort zone.”
I’m a Celebrity returns Sunday, November 6 at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub. Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
