Coronation Street’s Hope left spooked by John Stape séance

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

There are some spooky goings-on over in Coronation Street next week as a séance takes place – but it appears to Hope that it may have been more successful than anyone could have imagined.

The creepy story kicks off while Fiz and Tyrone are celebrating getting engaged – but the moment is dampened somewhat when the person who wrote the book about her long-dead ex, John Stape, stops by.

The journalist reveals that he has all the research that he did on John with him and that he wants Fiz to have it, so that it doesn’t accidentally end up with somebody it shouldn’t.

Concerned about the thought of all the information about John lying around the house, Fiz asks Chesney if he could hide it for her at his place, and Gemma decides to put the bag out of sight in a cupboard.

With John on everyone’s mind, Hope continues thinking about her dad, and she asks her friends if they can hold a séance to see if they are able to get in touch with him from beyond the grave.

Joseph and Sam agree to help, and the séance gets underway at Chesney and Gemma’s – with surprising results.

Feeling peckish while they are trying to contact John, Joseph heads to the cupboard to grab some biscuits, but the bag containing the author’s research material falls out and the contents spill onto the floor.

With a photo of John staring up at them, the kids are beyond freaked out, and worried that the séance worked as well as it did. How long will it be before they realise what has actually happened?

John was Fiz’s husband, and was killed off in 2011 following a car crash. The villain got up to a lot on the cobbles, including an affair with his student, Rosie Webster.

He went on to become one of the many Coronation Street killers – most notably murdering Charlotte Hoyle during the events of the 2010 tram crash.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
