Corrie’s Ken Barlow stunned as two characters leave Weatherfield

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has aired the exits for two characters, leaving poor old Ken Barlow shocked and embarrassed.

Tonight’s (December 14) episode saw both Martha Fraser and Wendy Papadopoulos depart after Ken’s infamous history caught up with him. Martha famously had an affair with Ken while he was married to Deirdre, while Wendy was a former flame who relit the spark when she returned earlier this year.

The two made their decision following the chaos of the play — first the theatre was flooded, and then one of the leads literally broke a leg — with Martha apologising to Wendy for stealing Ken away, and the latter stating that she actually dumped him.

Martha took to the stage, taking over as the lead, and went off-script to call Ken “a cheat and a philanderer” in front of everyone.

“He has lied all his life and has carried on lying because he is weak and only cares for himself,” she monologued. “Behold! His name is Ken.”

While he was mortified, Wendy was living for the drama.

Ken tried to play peacemaker, stating that things that happened were in the past and that he and Martha could still move forward and make a life together in Hull.

“As far as I’m concerned, you can go to Hell,” Martha retorted.

Then, Wendy announced that she and Martha had decided that they were both going to move to Hull and work on a play together.

Digital Spy can confirm that this is the end of Martha and Wendy’s return stints, so it looks like Ken can breathe a sigh of relief, although he’s probably not overly fussed at being dumped.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
