EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders‘ executive producer Chris Clenshaw has spoken about his decision to bring back a key character to the square – Keanu Taylor.
Danny Walters has once again reprised his role as Keanu, who made a surprise return on screen at the end of tonight’s episode (December 13).
Keanu was last seen in 2020, when he departed Walford following the death of Sharon’s teenage son Dennis.

Prior to that, Keanu had gone on the run following his Christmas Day showdown with Phil Mitchell.
Viewers know that Keanu is the father of Sharon’s young son, Albie, following their affair. He also has a child with Phil’s daughter Louise.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at a recent EastEnders press event, Chris explained why he wanted to reintroduce Keanu now, especially amidst Phil’s troubles.

“He’s got unfinished business and it’s been almost three years,” Chris said, before teasing viewers can expect a different version of the character going forward. “He’s matured a lot in that time and with all due respect, I think Keanu left a boy and he returns as a man.
“He’s definitely got a lot of making up to do but he’s back with a bang.”
Chris also teased some explosive scenes as Keanu comes face to face with Phil for the first time in years: “Keanu returns and Phil’s not in Walford at the moment but it’s not long before Phil’s back and we can expect fireworks…”
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
