EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders star Kellie Bright has opened up about the approaching end of Mick and Linda, with Danny Dyer leaving the soap after almost nine years.
Dyer announced he was departing EastEnders earlier this year, meaning the soap had to figure out a way to write off his character Mick Carter. The time has almost come, with Mick set to exit the show in some way or another this Christmas.
Linda, however, will remain in the soap. Actress Bright, who plays her, talked about the emotional end after working with Dyer for so long.

“There were lots of tears on and off screen from me! I’m terrible at goodbyes anyway, and I hate change. It does feel like a massive end of an era. To have someone in your life on a daily basis for nine years and then to have to say goodbye to them is tough,” Bright said.
She explained that she will still see and speak to Dyer after his Walford exit, but she knows things won’t quite be the same. Still, it took her a while for the news to finally sink in.
“It wasn’t until Danny’s leaving party, where they put together a montage of his best bits, and there was so much in it, that it hit me. There was stuff we’d forgotten about, and it was such a reminder of the stuff that we’ve done together,” Bright continued.

“One of the hardest things I’ve found this year was Mick and Linda being split up. I’d have loved more Mick and Linda together,” Bright said. Mick and Linda broke up and it was the scheming of Charlie Brooks’ Janine who ensured the couple found no way back together.
Now, Mick and Janine are an item and are getting married just after Christmas, which is likely to be a big part of the end of Mick Carter. However, despite Janine’s manipulations, Bright added that she and Brooks enjoy a great friendship off-screen.
Unfortunately for Bright, Brooks is also leaving EastEnders.

“I’ve loved working with Charlie Brooks. I’ve found a new friend in her, and I love her to pieces. In many ways, it was just as hard saying goodbye to her as it was to Danny,” Bright said.
“We’re proud of what we’ve done on the show together. We laughed a lot during those years, and Danny is one of my best friends. We’ve been through so much together, and our scenes have always been a joy.”
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
