Emmerdale confirms when Chas Dingle will finally be caught out over affair

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale‘s executive producer Jane Hudson has confirmed that Chas Dingle’s affair will finally be exposed this month.

Chas’ husband Paddy will be devastated as he finds out the truth about her relationship with Al Chapman, leading to a heartbreaking Christmas period for the once-solid couple.

Earlier this year, Chas turned to Al for comfort while her mum Faith was terminally ill. Chas ultimately fell for Al and planned to run away with him, but her plans for the future were thwarted when Al was shot dead.

Speaking in a new interview with Digital Spy and other press, Hudson explained that the long-awaited scenes where Paddy learns of Chas’ betrayal are coming up soon.

Discussing the ITV1 soap’s Christmas storylines, Hudson said: “I think it was really important for us, after our big October month where four people died, that we do have some of our Christmas episodes as ‘feel good’.

“There’s an importance of togetherness, and family and friends, and checking in on each other and making sure you’re okay.

“It’s not all going to be like that! We’ve got Paddy and Chas, who are absolutely in their worst place. The affair’s been discovered and they are forced to spend Christmas Day together – and it does not go well.”

She continued: “We’re continuing our story with Chas and Paddy and how you navigate trying to be the best parents you can when your marriage is falling to pieces and one of you has had an affair.

“We’ll watch them both go on their journeys. It will be very serious and quite heartbreaking as we watch what happens to what were one of our favourite couples before we tore them apart.”

Hudson also hinted at a new direction for Chas after her controversial behaviour over the past few months.

Asked whether Chas will be redeemed, she replied: “It depends how forgiving you are as a person! What one person might forgive, another viewer might not.

“I think the viewers are always going to find it difficult to forgive Chas for breaking Paddy’s heart. But I think what we will start to see is Chas starting to do her absolute best to right her wrongs, put other people first and acknowledge what she did.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
