Emmerdale’s Chas to face lonely Christmas after being caught out

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale‘s Chas Dingle will feel isolated from her family this Christmas as she finally faces the consequences of her affair.

Show bosses recently announced that Chas’ husband Paddy will soon discover that she cheated on him with Al Chapman.

Upcoming episodes see Chas privately vow to move on from her feelings for Al, who was shot dead by Kyle Winchester at the end of October.

Chas tries to focus on her family again and realises how much she loves Paddy, but it’s too late when he later finds out about her betrayal.

In scenes airing this Christmas, Chas marks the festive season by dropping off some presents for the Dingles – as well as a birthday gift for Belle.

Chas hopes that her olive branch will help her to get back in favour with her loved ones, but Belle and Mandy are both hostile towards her.

As Chas struggles with the frosty atmosphere, she seeks an escape by heading to The Woolpack, which is closed and empty.

Unfortunately, Chas soon stumbles into the back room to find Paddy spending the day with their daughter Eve, alongside Marlon and his family.

Chas and Paddy try their best to be civil for Eve’s sake, but when the awkwardness becomes unbearable, Chas leaves.

Reflecting on the loss of loved ones, Chas heads off with the firework that was created as a final tribute to her mum Faith. She visits the grave of her daughter Grace and reads out a card that Faith wrote a few months ago.

Suddenly, a stranger approaches Chas and delivers some bombshell news, just as Faith’s firework takes off. Is Chas’ life about to change forever?

Emmerdale‘s executive producer Jane Hudson recently spoke about future plans for Chas in the fallout from the affair storyline.

Hudson told Digital Spy and other media: “We’ve got Paddy and Chas, who are absolutely in their worst place. The affair’s been discovered and they are forced to spend Christmas Day together – and it does not go well.

“We’re continuing our story with Chas and Paddy and how you navigate trying to be the best parents you can when your marriage is falling to pieces and one of you has had an affair.

“We’ll watch them both go on their journeys. It will be very serious and quite heartbreaking as we watch what happens to what were one of our favourite couples before we tore them apart.”

Asked whether Chas will be redeemed, Hudson replied: “It depends how forgiving you are as a person! What one person might forgive, another viewer might not.

“I think the viewers are always going to find it difficult to forgive Chas for breaking Paddy’s heart. But I think what we will start to see is Chas starting to do her absolute best to right her wrongs, put other people first and acknowledge what she did.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
