Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle sparks gambling fears in new storyline

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Life without his beloved Liv has proven to be difficult for Vinny in the aftermath of her death in Emmerdale, and he starts showing some worrying behaviour in scenes to air on ITV next week.

Knowing how worried Mandy is about him, Jimmy offers to have a talk with Vinny, and she’s delighted that somebody may be able to help him.

And while the two play snap, Vinny does start to open up to Jimmy and talk about how he’s feeling. Will then invites them both to join in a game of poker taking place at The Woolpack.

Ryan, David, and Mackenzie soon join in with the fun, and Vinny finds that he enjoyed himself playing with everyone far more than he ever expected to.

So did the others too, as Vinny, Mack, and Jimmy meet up again the following day for another game – but they make sure to keep it a secret from Charles.

But while poker is becoming quite the craze in the village, one person who isn’t overjoyed by the idea of Vinny playing is Mandy.

When Jimmy accidentally spills the beans to her, Mandy’s not happy, as she worries that Vinny could be on the same dark gambling path that his late father Paul found himself on.

Jimmy instantly feels guilty for not making the connection to Paul. But it seems as though Vinny’s enthusiasm is here to stay, as he meets up with Mack the following day to discuss strategies ahead of a game with flash newcomer Darren.

Darren found the group playing poker in the pub, and invited them to play a higher-stakes game with him.

Is Vinny getting in over his head, and could he really end up following in his father’s footsteps by becoming addicted to gambling?

And if it is nothing more than a hobby to Vinny, will Mandy ever be able to accept him playing the game?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
