It has been three years since we last saw Carmel in EastEnders, and while she has even less reason to be back following Kush’s demise, star Bonnie Langford is not ruling out a comeback at some point down the line.
“I think I’m still in the black taxi making my way to Dubai,” Bonnie joked while reflecting on how her character said goodbye to Walford in a chat with The Mirror.
As for what could bring her back, Bonnie pointed out that Carmel does still have connections there.

“They killed off the rest of my family in the show except my grandson who apparently is still there. I enjoyed my time on EastEnders and I’d never say never,” she said.
Speaking of Bonnie making a return to a big BBC show, she did just that when she reprised her role as Doctor Who companion Mel for a cameo in the recent episode that saw Jodie Whittaker’s tenure in the TARDIS come to a close.
ITV viewers also had the pleasure of her company last year when she appeared on The Masked Singer as Squirrel.
As for what she is up to at the moment, Bonnie has just taken to the stage again in the West End for a special one-night Judy Garland charity concert at London’s Lyric Theatre.

So, while she is certainly keeping busy, we do hope that the doors of Albert Square open up for her again soon.
Cast changes are on the way in EastEnders with several stars bowing out over the coming weeks. Danielle Harold, Danny Dyer, and Charlie Brooks will all be saying farewell to Walford life and all three exits are set to be dramatic.
While Lola’s sad exit is underway now, the reasons behind Mick and Janine leaving remain to be seen – but we appear to be set for some high drama as the BBC soap enters the festive season.
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
