Hollyoaks star Alex Fletcher explains Diane’s doubts over Beau

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Alex Fletcher, who plays Diane Hutchinson on the show, has opened up about her character’s doubts over Beau.

In next week’s episodes, after gossip about Tony Hutchinson’s past makes headlines in the local newspaper, Zara suggests he release a family photo and a statement in order to do some damage control.

When Beau categorically refuses to be involved, suspicious Tony asks for a DNA test to determine if they really are related.

And now, in an interview with Inside Soap, Alex has discussed her character’s doubts over Beau, who claims to be her husband Tony’s son.

“Certain things in the article make them think information has been leaked to the press,” she said.

“Diane is suspicious Beau has done it. They barely know him. Tony has confided in him stuff about his life – and he might not even be his son,” she continued.

“As soon as they mention posting it [the family photo] on social media, Beau doesn’t want to take part. This fuels Diane’s suspicions about him, and she tells Tony he should do a paternity test,” she added.

And while there is trouble within the Hutchinson family, Alex only had praise for Jon-Paul Bell who plays Beau.

“He’s brilliant and has really fitted in,” she said. “Having another member of the family adds more layers to the dynamic of the Hutchinsons. We’ve been filming scenes for Christmas and it was so nice… it felt really natural with Jon-Paul being a part of the group. We all love him.”

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
